Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • tongs

Ingredients

Shrimp

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined 16–20 count

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • ¼ cup honey raw preferred
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced fresh
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce low sodium if possible
  • 1 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 tsp cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced for garnish
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds optional garnish

Instructions

  • Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat completely dry with paper towels to ensure proper browning.
  • In a bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, and cornstarch if using, until smooth.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with a drizzle of olive oil until shimmering.
  • Add shrimp in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 2 minutes until lightly caramelized.
  • Season with salt and pepper, flip the shrimp, and cook for 1 minute on the other side.
  • Pour the honey garlic sauce over the shrimp and gently toss as it bubbles and thickens.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 3–5 minutes until shrimp are opaque and coated in a glossy glaze.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

Notes

For less sweetness, reduce the honey and add a splash of rice vinegar or lime juice. Avoid overcooking shrimp, as they become rubbery when curled too tightly.
