Ingredients
  

Casserole

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 fat ratio
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 medium potatoes thinly sliced
  • 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup 1 can
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1.5 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Slice potatoes thinly and set aside.
  • Brown ground beef with chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat and season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Layer half of the potatoes in the baking dish, top with half of the beef mixture, then repeat layers.
  • Mix cream of mushroom soup with milk and pour evenly over the casserole. Sprinkle cheese on top and drizzle with melted butter.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly. Rest 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can swap ground beef for turkey, add vegetables like peas or zucchini, or use different cheeses for variation. Letting the casserole rest before serving helps it set and slice cleanly.
